Reloading water system

I've got to get ready for the first trip this year, but I realized, even though I shot the video on winterizing, that I don't really know how to reverse the process. I didn't run anti-freeze through the pipes - I just drained them, put anti-freeze in the traps and kept the interior above freezing over winter.

I plan to connect to the main at home ( using the pressure reduction valve, for sure ) and to open the exterior shower until I get water. I presume that that will fill the fresh water tank, but will it also fill the water heater? Or should I just fill the fresh water and then run the pump and hot water heater and then top it up?

I want to make sure everything works before heading out.

Re: Reloading water system

I think you have to turn the hot water tap on in order for the hot water tank to fill
I think all we did was run a bunchof water through the taps (not the interior or exterior shower) and then I just drained the grey water tank on our driveway....

Where is the hot water fill or shut off gizmo located? I thought that when the city water is hooked up it goes to everything.

Re: Reloading water system

Take a look at the end of the video - the part on winterizing. It's under the right hand seat at the back as you face the rear.
I didn't shut mine off however, I removed the anode to drain the tank.

Re: Reloading water system

I'm spending the afternoon getting Toad ready for its first trip May 23.
I ran city water to it and opened taps until water flowed. Then, I filled the fresh water tank until water was shooting out of the overflow. I ran the pump and opened taps. However, the monitor only reads 3/4 full. Any ideas why that would be?

Re: Reloading water system

Sometimes the water fills too fast for the small pressure release hole to let all the air escape (small hole just to the upper right of the fill hole).
Now that it's settled and equalized, try again. Might check to be sure the pressure release hole hasn't been blocked by something foreign too.

Re: Reloading water system

Thanks,

I did leave it for a bit and then tried to fill again, but I'll try again tomorrow. I swear I had a 50' and a 25' water hose. If anybody knows what I did with the 25' one, I'd appreciate the info...

Glenn, maybe it was with your mind when you lost it.
