Replacing 7-Way RV Style Connector

All,

I'm looking to replace the 7-way connector on my 17B. I opened the junction box at the front of the camper and took a glance at wire sizes. The original wire sizes appear larger than the replacement cable I purchased. Anyone have a part # for a replacement cable similar to what Escape installed?

As far as I can tell, my concern would be the blue wire (12 ga) on my purchased cable. I wouldn't think the running/tail/turn/backup wires (14 ga) are an issue.
But, I've been wrong before :-)

Purchased cable Specs:
Cable length: 8'
Wire gauges:
14 Gauge - Red, brown, green, and yellow
12 Gauge - Blue
10 Gauge - White and black

BTW - When I wired my FJ Cruiser for the 7-pin, I ran 10ga wire for the ground, +12v, and brake controller. The remaining were from the original 4 pin.

Those gauges seem reasonable to me. Matches what etrailer sells. If you are concerned with matching it I would call Reace and see what he uses.

I think those are the standard gauges for each wire with most umbilicals. The ones I've seen like in the photo below have the same gauges for each wire that you detailed. Any bigger and you'd have one fat and unwieldy cable. I like the Pollak 7-pin connectors because they seem to fit better on the receptacle of my truck and are high quality. But even the Pollak that includes the cable has the same gauges you described.

Blue: Dexter manual (pg. 11) - 4 brakes; less than 30 ft. from hitch to axle = 12 gauge.
Black and White: 10 ga. for your 12VC power and ground are fine!

I agree that 14 gauge is fine for lighting, particularly with LED lamps.
10 gauge is reasonable for battery charge and ground, but there is cable with 8 gauge available.

The 12 gauge wire for the brakes is not a concern. While there may be cable with 10 gauge, any Escape only has two axles so it won't ever draw more than about 12 amps, and even that only briefly. Most people don't use the maximum setting on their brake controller, so actual current would be even lower. A triple-axle trailer might call for a heavier-gauge brake wire.
