Replacing the original awning on our 5.0 2007
There are too many issues with the original equipment and new ones keep creeping. So, we have decided to replace the original Carefree awning. The question that we have is simple, should we go with an exact replacement or do you have better suggestions?
As usual, inputs from experienced folks would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Allen

What are the issues you are having? Is it just the fabric wearing or what?

Hi: allenmaloney... I believe all of the parts from the Carefree of Colorado awning are replaceable so I'd tend to go with the original awning as a replacement!!!
If you take it to an RVTech maybe all it needs is an attitude adjustment...Two cents please... Alf

The Carefree on my 2014 E21 is far more durable and robust than the Fiamma on my Casita, or the Fiamma on my son's Vanagon Westie. Carefree customer support was great when I asked them about some technical issues via email.... my awning had been previously replaced by the trailer's OO, and they got the wrong size fabric, its a foot too long. It took the CS rep a day or so to get tto the bottom, but apparently some years of the Escape use a slightly shorter awning due to geometry of the bent arms.
I often combine my awning with a sturdy 10x10 popup, and the combination has survived 20-25 mph winds. I use these on the sides to reduce the flapping in the wind. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BUQOEU/
I treat the fabric with Aerospace 303 Protectant about once a year.

These awnings seem particularly nice...in that you can add a screen room to them, can be either electric or manual and they roll up into a box to protect the awning material during travel and storage. Just our 2 cents! -Bea

Thanks, it looks that you were right. After careful deliberation, the tech identified the required replacement parts. He was nice enough to provide the proper advice. The awning is now back to full operational state. Thank you very much Alf, for nudging me back the correct way.

Hi: allenmaloney... There was a nice couple from Quebec in a 5.0TA in your site at Niagara Wine Escape this fall. They mostly full time in their trailer, but still have an address in Montreal I think. Alf
