I believe there is some design flaw by Thetford here, I ran antifreeze through my system, had full pink fluid coming out of the toilet. The bottom fitting of the assembly had cracked. Perhaps water is trapped in the fitting and not easily cleared; I'm wondering if blowing out all the lines during winterizing might be a better solution.
Luckily, Amazon had the part and was able to get it to me within 2 days, as we needed it just before a trip.

Same here. Cracked on bottom of valve, happened on day three of our first trip out last spring. Been using the pink stuff for years with no problems on previous RV's. Had to pull the toilet on the 5.0 TA, ten - fifteen minute job to replace flush valve. When winterizing this last winter I double checked the toilet valve, lots of pink. Hopefully it was just a bad batch of valves. (We also carry a spare). Scott

Cracked valves in the toilet is pretty common. Has to do with water not clearing in the valve during winterizing. Pumping RV antifreeze through the system should help... if you open the valve so it can get in there. I wonder if wrapping the valve in syrofoam, would help during the coldest part of winter? Think "Mae West."

Wasn't possible for me. Or maybe it'd be possible but it'd take 10x as long and I'd come away bloody and cursing. IIRC, the valve is held in place by a phillips head screw (or two?). Removing the toilet is a couple bolts, and makes it really easy. Just don't drop anything into your black tank

I was convinced that I was more than generous with the antifreeze through the toilet plumbing.
Not sure if any amount of insulation would work in the midwest when we'll have some periods of 10-20 degrees F below zero. Maybe should use this as more justification to move to a warmer climate

Looks like the frame of the hand mirror used to show the valve.

Correctomundo. That was me realizing "ain't no way I can fix that without removing the toilet". I took some pics dangling my phone behind the toilet then too, but after I unbolted the toilet, I put the phone about 250 feet away, locked in a cabinet, just to make sure it wouldn't magically end up dropped in the tank

Been in north Texas about a month and have had lots of cold and rain. Big storms yesterday and raining all day today. Have had four or five days of nice weather. Has to be better soon!
I know it is warmer and drier in the south than it has been here. We did get a fantastic rainbow over the whole campground yesterday.
At least the toilet had no leak. Been there. Wasn't sure our winterizing had worked on the 21' but it did. This is the earliest we have ever gone out, March 13. No question the spray foam keeps the Escape warmer. Had some below freezing but no problem.

Resurrecting this thread...
Had used the toilet several times while skiing this winter with a bottle of antifreeze hooked up to the winterizing intake. No problems. Just recharged the plumbing system for a trip this weekend and heard a leak in the bathroom. Water spraying out from behind the toilet. Suspected a cracked flush valve. Pulled the toilet and I was correct. Just ordered an "upgraded" replacement from Beech Lane that is supposed to be a tougher polymer and more resistant to freezing. We'll see.
I highly recommend a toilet shut-off valve be included as an option from the factory (if available) or installed by owners. Being able to isolate the toilet and have the rest of the plumbing operational really helped as this happened right before leaving for a short camping trip this past weekend.

I have one of those upgraded valves in my spare parts box and we do have the toilet cutoff valve....since I am prepared for that my OEM valve will probably last forever
Kind of interesting how many aftermarket improved, higher quality parts there are for known bad ones, like this toilet valve....the Dinosaur circuit boards....the SAM-! range hood fan...

Or maybe you'll lose it or forget you even bought it by the time you need it. Our OEM valve made it just over 11 years.

I'm always happy to buy a spare part and then never need it. I have learned to go through my spare parts box once a year or so and just take a look to remind myself of what I have.
Getting ready to go start pulling parts off my furnace now that all the easy obvious stuff has been checked. Didn't have those parts already on hand, of course. I really like the way the green LED on the Dinosaur board lights up right away to give you a positive confirmation that your sail switch and high limit switch are OK.

Hoping that is the case with the two furnace sail switches I recently bought. Never had a problem with the older Atwood 8012-II but you never know.
I've been following your furnace journey. You have been going though everything very systematically and I'm confident you are going to figure out what the issue is. It may benefit a lot of owners that have intermittent issues with the Dometic DFSAD furnaces.
