replacing upper led tail light strip

Some of the leds in the upper tail lights are out and so I ordered replacements. When I removed one of the strips it seems there is very little slake in the wires (2 inches) to work with. Is this all there is or do I need to pull harder? Thanks in advance.

Pull Harder

FWIW The rear top center bar should only have 3 lights lit for a trailer over 80"
wide. (There is a different part # from the full light bar.) I think my trailer had a center full light bar with burnt out lights like yours.(Been a while since replacement.) I pulled my upper light and had very little slack. Called ETI they said to cut the headliner in the cabinet. Once cut I was able to free up plenty of wire. Sealant from the shell hole was holding the wire in the trailer.
If you cut the headliner do it at the upper edge of the tabbing strip which holds up the cabinet base. You can then stain an oak strip and screw it to the tabbing strip that covers up the cut in the head liner.

I replaced the driver side strip and had plenty of wire but I had to tug it a bit to free it up. From the build pictures I have of mine it looks like they taped the wiring to the side of the trailer here and there. I did leave it as long as I could for the next time...

What is the tail LED light model number and where can you buy them except contacting ETI?
Thanks.

This is what was on my trailer. The upper and lower tail lights were Bargman 47-54-001 available from Amazon. The center upper light should be a Bargman 47-54-002, ID bar ( With only 3 lit LED's) also listed on Amazon. The lights are on my 2014, E-21. About a foot long and in. inch tall.

These lights on the top seem to fail fairly often. I am on the third light on the upper right hand side of my trailer. The taillights that are lower last a lot longer, perhaps because they are beneath a ridge in the classic trailer body. I have heard various explanations ranging from moisture penetration to expansion and contraction due to heat from the sun.

has anyone found replacement lights that are more resistant to failure or developed any other strategy to make them last longer?

old thread, I know.

EEEEK. Bargman 47-54-001 seem to be unobtanium now. while a few vendors list them, bargman doesn't have anything similar anymore, and all the 'respectable' vendors say "out of stock"

I replaced 2 a year ago because elements were out. now 2 more have the same symptom, so I was going to replace the other 3.

yeah, I found these, which are 14.5" center to center on the mounting holes, which should match the bargman pretty closely, and are 3-wire, same deal.

I suppose they are cheap enough I could replace all 5.

Hi: John in Santa Cruz... Here's a pic of my replacements done by ETI when Reace still did repairs. The long units warped in the hot sun, then leaked into the upper cabinets.
The new smaller units are already starting to resist lighting. One LED at a time!!! Alf

Hey Alf stop bragging! After Reace took care of your taillights he didn't want to do any more. Ask me how I know

I'm thinking of something like Alf's change. As much as I like these long LEDs, especially when I have my bicycle on the back, I'm getting tired of yearly scrapping off the caulk and recaulking. It's going to be never ending no matter WHAT long lights are used. It's the heat....

I ended up getting these.

nice quality, bright even light, look to be well sealed and completely submersible.
