All the wires are in one contact wire, one of those flat thin ribbon wire connections with the 4-6 wires inside. I believe there is a tab connector to disengage the wires. If you wanted to try this approach, just offering some info.

I believe that will completely kill the control panel and nothing will work.

What I was thinking, but I do appreciate the brainstorming.

You've more patience than I have. I think by now I would have put a blob of 5 minute epoxy into the center of the beeper Hopefully factory advice to solve the issue sooner than later will end this annoyance.

Aloha Jack,
We will be going through Cortez in July and staying in the Dolores River Campground for 2 weeks. I'd be interested in knowing the contact info for the RV tech you mentioned just in case. We pick up our 5.0 "Ka`a Hale" on June 26th and head back to Nevada to get it licensed. Then on to Colorado. Can't wait to start the journey.

Update: Reace is taking apart the control panel of an RMD8555 in hopes he can find a way to disable the audible alarm sender. Stay tuned.

I realize that, but I assumed Robert wanted to "reboot" the control panel, unplugging the power did not seem to work, but I thought unplugging the control panel while on may reboot the alarm when reattached ? Anyway, perhaps Reace can figure which wire is the alarm.

When I took mine in, they replaced the heating element AND the control panel...both were bad.

Problem solved -- for now--

Reace found what others have said-- that there is no way to disconnect the alarm. BUT, the sender that produces the alarm for door open is in the door switch, not the control board. He was able to silence the door alarm by simply unplugging the fridge light. So, I just unplugged the light and the alarm is GONE! Thanks to all. We'll get a new door switch/etc once we get back to Texas.

By the way, getting the cover off the light is hard to do without breaking it. I found if I slipped a thin screwdriver under the front of it near the plastic dimple that holds it on to the front, and then pulled from the back, it popped off without damage.

Robert,

What a relief! We were all getting worried about your sanity for the remainder of the trip, with a constant beeping sounding off.

At least I'll know a temporary solution in the event ours has an alarm when we pick it up on Friday. Our fridge is the smaller one however.

Safe travels.

Klaus

Glad to hear there's an easy temporary solution. Odds are that someone else will have the same problem and now lots of people on the forum know the solution.

Good thing you found a solution. Given the need to use an ice box you might have had to change your trailer name to Almost Past Tents

Interesting that the manual in that link shows the temp sensor over on the burner side of the 8XXX fridge family. Isn't moving it to that side one of the proposed Dometic solutions to the poor cooling issue?

RV tech

The tech that I mentioned is Dan Sutton at 970-764-8544. He is temporarily out of business due to wife's surgery. I wasn't able to find his card but I called the RV park we use and described the business, they had his name and current business. Hope he is back in business soon.

I've been accused of being a cheerleader for the brand. Can't help it, won't apologize.

But, when was the last time you heard/read of an RV manufacturer that was willing to tear into an appliance (that they didn't manufacture) to find a solution?

Sorry Robert you have/had problems, truly. But at least ETI gave you a solution you can live with until you get home and have the refrigerator fixed under warranty.

Cool!

So I guess Robert will never know the answer to one of life's riddles......does the light really go out when you shut the refrigerator door?...

Au Contraire Jim! See post #31.

Haven't figured out the meaning of life yet, but the fridge light thing? Got that one licked.
