Getting the awning lock this week and hope to get it installed . Yes the roller tube can unwind if for whatever reason the lock fails . Doesn't matter how much you tie the arms down . Pat

You might consider bending some 2 inch aluminum stock on your bench vice like I did.

You will have to add your own bugs.

Hi Chris received our awning lock and I would really like to install and make the extension plate like you did . Not really crazy installing on the arm . Looks and don't feel it is very strong . I want to install as you did . You said 3 in by 1/8 aluminum. Do you remember is the length of the plate 3 in or longer before the cuts ? Is the 3 in the width at 3 in ? Any more information would be very helpful . Pat

I ordered the pin but am having to wait on it as the vendor's (Keith Williams) supplier's welder is on the fritz. I had planned to make a template from Chris's photo (with his permission) and transfer that to a piece of 1/8"X3"X? of flat bar aluminum. Seems Lowe's and HD only go to a 2" width so I will have to find it elswhere. I have gotten good advice from Keith via email on installing the pin but want to try the template approach first. He is aware of this thread and sent pictures of the install done on the front arm with 1/2" screws instead of 3/4" (or 3/4" ground down to allow arm movement).

Thankyou Rob . I too talked to Keith and was told the problem of filling orders due to broken welder . Somehow he was able to get a awning lock out to us . I am kind of running out of time to install at the moment due to planned trip . Hope I get a response from Chris . I also promised to make the bracket for Ross . I wish Chris could get us the a paper copy of his template . Pat

Some good idea's on here also. Really don't want to install on the side or front arm . See a potential runin with head or ...... much stronger to attach to rear of arm bracket I believe . Whoever gets this done first hopefully posts picture . Pat

Not trying to rain on chris’ bracket he made which is fantastic but one can use the bracket supplied as I did. The pic I posted only shows 1 bolt but the finished install has 3 bolts. I put this out there for those that don’t have the expertise or equipment to fabricate his bracket. Again great job Chris look great.

The issue some of us have is we have Classic trailers . Our awnings are a different animal . We can't use the supplied brackets unless we mount them to front arm or such . Really better idea to back support bracket . Chris's bracket solves that for us . See you have a 2018 . Your awning is cut in further on the trailer then ours , which sticks out on the body . Hope I am explaining this well . Pat

Sorry I'm bad looking at your post 53 shows similar to what we have . Great solution but we would definetly walk into the bracket on the arm and it wouldn't be pretty . Pat

In picture #1 the top part is inside the angled part.
FWIW, I put the straps through the bracket piece too. like this...

(ignore the 3300 miles worth of bugs from the Utah trip we got home from Sunday night)

and post #2 shows I did the same, securing the arms with velcro to the upper support, but yet the awning still unfurled....

Can someone please tell Glenn that strap will have nothing to do with roller unwinding . And the majority of us strap the arms just like that . Roller is your problem . Pat
