As one of the commenters to the article asks, "where's the beef?"

Yep, another RV expert who completely disregards the molded fiberglass manufacturers. That's ok, I like our little world.

To be fair, the title is "Lessons Learned from a Week of 14 RV Factory Tours in the RV Capital of the World"... which is Elkhart County, Indiana "and surrounding areas". While stretching "surrounding areas" to Ohio is questionable, the factories visited are relatively close to each other. The nearest fiberglass factory is Scamp in Backus MN; Escape, Casita, Bigfoot, etc are even further away.

Much of the article is information that is available without doing factory tours, and so throwing in moulded fiberglass construction might make sense, but they visited Airstream's travel trailer operation and didn't mention their classic riveted aluminum shell construction. Other than the shell construction, the rest of the general observations about RV manufacturing are reasonably applicable to the moulded fiberglass world.

I think the weirdest thing about this tour is that these RV enthusiasts "immersed" themselves in the RV industry by leaving the RV at home, flying to the area, and driving a rental car between factories. The more I see the product of "bloggers" or "YouTubers" the less I expect to see anything of value or even any genuine enthusiasm about the subject from them.

As for one particular observation about RVs...

Some RVs will need more ‘seasoning’ than others...

How much "seasoning" does a new car usually take? Usually none, for the brands that I buy. It's too bad that a substantial list of defects seems to be expected in RVs.

This is an interesting saga of getting warranty work out of Cedar creek/forest River. If you scroll down it starts 6 months ago with he title "RV Lemon life". The saga only ended 2 weeks ago.
