I would second Evernote as a useful application. It works cross platform on pc's, macs, iphone, ipad and droid. The information is stored in the cloud so you can access it from any location with an internet connection.
The product has a large following and there is a great deal of helpful postings on using the product. A case in point, on a recent trip to Wyoming I was going to be without internet connection, in such a case Evernote will not work. I had most of my trip planning in Evernote so I had to find a solution. The answer proposed by Evernote was to purchase the Premium version for one month, cost was $5. The Premium version allows you to store data on your local device beside keeping it in the cloud. Once my use was over I reverted back to the free version.
