Screen door latch is loose

on my Escape 21, gen 2, built in Nov 2017, my screen door latch is loose.
Both the "catch" mounted on the external trailer door and the "latch" on the screen door itself are loose.
Basically, they are mounted with screws into pretty thin metal in both cases.
As a fix, I intend to use 3M VHB tape to "glue" them back in place.
For the "catch", I am hoping the VHB tape, plus gently re-use the screws will be enough strength.
For the "latch" mechanism, I can drill through the screen door and use a nut and through bolt, in addition to VHB tape, to fasten it.
That is my plan, unless you brilliant people have better suggestions.

Possibly, but leads to the same issue: mechanical fasteners into very thin metal.

I did find another thread where you basically disable the "catch" mechanism by flipping it upside down. So, the catch is only using a bit of friction, then add magnets to hold the doors together. This way, the catch is not stressing the delicate metal and screws.

On previous RV 's that was my fix . Using a nut and bolt allows if needed a simple way to change out the latches . Pat

Hello.
Same thing happened to me on my new type door.
However I tightened the screws and it is working so far.

Have you tried a liberal coating of Lock-tite on the existing screws and then reseat them?

The screen door "catch" on our gen 2 Escape 21 also came loose from the main door after about a months use. Stripped screws, fixed with pop rivets, seems OK after a few more months of camping.
