Securing propane cover

We are finally off on our first trip in our 17B delivered last fall. The only thing securing the propane cover seems to be a provided small bungee that hooks under the cover. This does't seem very substancial, is there something more? The cover opens to the rear, does it matter? Thanks a lot, we do like the trailer very much.

That seems to be the "normal" way to secure it, and I haven't heard of anyone having any problems. Opening to the rear makes sense - that way if it's loose the wind will blow it closed instead of opening it or pulling it off.

There are a couple slots near the flap on mine. I run a reusable zap strap into the slot, around the propane tank handle and back up through the slot and secure it. The cover is so light weight that it doesn't take much to hold it in place.
I can still open the flap to turn tanks on or off.

Two securing devices are often used. A bungee cord around the frame from one side of the big main bottle cover to the other. Secondly a couple of zip ties, not cinched all the way down, to hold the inspection top on. You have to dril a couple holes for this one. The bungee cord with the ends slightly pinched together will hold the main bottle cover just fine.

The metal hook on the bungee that holds the propane cover in place is only attached through holes in the plastic cover . After several years of use the metal hook on my trailer cut its way through the plastic propane cover and fell off on the road . I installed a metal backing plate on the propane cover using pop rivets and drilled a hole to accommodate the bungee hook .
Ty Raps do works to hold the access door in place in warm to moderately cold weather but in really cold they become brittle and break ( YES I used black cold weather ty raps)
After loosing 2 access doors I now use SS metal key rings to fasten the access door
