Well that's a first for me. Every owner I've heard from who has the storage box loves it - including us.

Good to hear that I’m not the only one out there who doesn’t feel the need for the storage box. In my 19, I have 2 small boxes for my blocks and chocks and a large rolling box for seldom used items (such as extra hose, electric cord, adapters, etc.). My hose and electric cord fit on top of the large box and all is accessible thru the door or under the bed in my 19. My Anderson levelers fit in front of the small boxes, up against the wheel well.

On left side we keep a hatchet, two small cones to cover carpet stakes to prevent tripping, stinky slinky support, leveler crank, and not shown because they’re in use - one full set of lego blocks, and four 4x6x8’s for stabilizer supports (last pic). Also, there is a small platform we added next to the batteries (second to last pic) that covers the shunt for our Trimetric battery monitor.

In the center we have rest of the legos, a box of rubber gloves, and a miscellaneous box for things like stakes, hitch lock, padlocks, extra hitch pins, wtc.

On right side we have our 30A power cord, 50’ 30A extension, 50’ 20A extension cord, Anderson levelers, regular chocks, Fastway Onestep chock (not pictured, in use, recommended), Clorox wipes, ball grease, cans of various spray lube, and a box for electrical cord connections in wet environs that holds all the 50/20/30A adapters.

Lastly, I mounted the tank wand and the WDH come along (only used once) to the lid of the box itself.

ooof, 2 x GC2/T105 Golf batts is about 130 lbs... that puts you over the 100 lb limit of those cargo boxes even before you add the rest of the stuff.

I think Escape's logic in selling a box which appears to be overloaded right out of the factory (if the buyer chooses both the box and dual 6V batteries on a 19') is that the batteries sit right over the frame rails and just sandwich the box floor onto the frame, so the box structure doesn't need to support the batteries. The 100 pound limit is presumably for load supported by the box floor.

Of course, according to this logic, anyone could run a plywood shelf across bottom supporting everything in the box and ignore the load limit. I'm not saying that anyone should do that, but it's a logical conclusion.

I moved the battery out of mine (LiFePo under the dinette now), and it carries the generator, 1G gas can, and all the hitching and leveling gear. Swaybar and WDH bars when not in use, cheater pipe for WDH bars, "lego" levelers, Andersen levelers, and Andersen Rapid Jack.

Our box carries blocks, chocks, hoses, cords and the WDH when not in use. Wouldn’t, be without it. Loren

Same with us, Loren! I might add, we also roll up our outdoor mat (3’X4’) and put it under all the above. Wouldn’t be without it either.

What’s in the box

One thing I really like about our box is that it’s deep enough to carry our 11lb. Propane tank for the Weber Q120. I put four short Flathead wood screws with washers on them through the bottom of an empty plastic bucket that holds the bucket tightly and upright and keeps it from getting scratched up. Hoses, setup tools, Xchocks, a can of charcoal starter, chocks and levelers all fit nicely. This is on the 21. On the 19 with dual 6 volt batteries, the propane tank wouldn’t quite fit but I kept the one pounders in there.
Storage box to me is one of the best features of the Escape. I would take a picture but I’m not a neat packer. But I was a meat packer and stayed in a Holiday Inn once.

Hi Doug, we might be interested. My folks live in Campbell River; I could arrange a pick-up and put that box to use on our new 21.

Just be advised that the boxes ETI makes for 19’s are smaller than those they make for 21’s, as the 21’s are wider.

That's correct. The box on the 21 isn't just wider, but it's deeper front to back and top to bottom as well. Another difference, the box on the 19 has a raised platform in the center that the battery/batteries sit on.

You wouldn't necessarily have to place your 19's batteries in the box, but it's by far the most convenient place, eliminating the need to mount them either inside the trailer or outside on the frame.

To clarify my comment and the situation as I understand it, Derrick has or is getting a 21, and Doug already has a 19 box that he apparently finds to be superfluous. So if Derrick were to acquire Doug’s box he wouldn’t need to worry about the battery issue, just size and possibly fitment issues.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. In that case you'd just have a box that's a tad too narrow and has a considerable amount of storage space taken by the battery platform.

Are the front A-frame dimensions the same on a 19 and 21? The storage boxes have a recess molded into the bottom to fit over the frame.

Good point. Assuming they are both 50 degree A frames, the recesses would fit the rails at some point, but maybe not as far back against the trailer as the box designed for it.
