We turned off the fridge and closed the valves on the propane tanks before departing.

For those that have replaced their Norcold refrigerator vent covers, did you replace it with the Polar White or the Bright White? Escape told me the part number ended with PW (Polar White); however, we just received the replacement cover from a parts store and it seems 'dull' compared to the current frame of the vent.

All refrigerators used by Escape are Dometic. Is it the right vent? Maybe they sent you Colonial White or something else instead?

When installing your replacement, remove one of the screws installed inside the cover around the perimeter of the opening and drill a small hole in he cover and reinstall the screw thru the cover back into the original hole. Keeps this from happening again.

We learned the hard way that ETI, while using Dometic refrigerators, uses Norcold vent covers -- purchased a non-returnable Dometic cover before calling ETI to get the correct part number.

Jim - Yes, the vent cover on your 21' has a shine to it while the one we received is a rather dull white. Thank you for posting these photos!

And thank you for posting a 'fix' so that this doesn't happen again. Nothing like pulling into a campsite and finding a 'hole' in the side of your trailer. Don't know where it came off, but the refrigerator (on propane) stayed cold and we had been driving for 5+ hours.

I remember in the fridge performance mod threads a few years back that the vent covers were indeed Norcold. Some were wondering if they were part of the issue with the fridge performance because they didn’t vent as well as the dometic covers.

Thanks. Learned something knew today. Dometic fridge with Norcold vents. Got it.

(Glad our old metal hinged style can’t fall off, but certainly not as nice looking)
