Sirius Satelitte Radio

So, six weeks after getting this Stiletto 2 satellite radio it was finally warm enough to sit in the RAV and try to figure out where to mount it. I think I've found the spot. Not perfect, but it will have to do. I don't want cables running all over the place and I've already got a GPS plugged in. But, that's not my problem.

I don't want to mount the external antennae permanently in the vehicle. It seems to work OK, just sitting on the dash, and I want to be able to move it to the Toad when camping. Problem is, the external antennae apparently doesn't plug directly into the radio. It plugs into the vehicle mount, along with audio out and the DC charger. If I had a DC outlet in the Toad, I could just move the vehicle mount ( which would be an aggravation ).

I want to plug in the external antennae, AC power and audio out to my compact powered speakers. Checked the site and I can't see a simple adapter to enable me to do this.

Any ideas?

Re: Sirius Satelitte Radio

Do you have an external winegard antenna (for TV)? I was just thinking if the cabling in the camper would suffice for radio, I think it would be fine. Maybe just attach an antenna on the outside of the Escape via the cable near the spare? Anyway just a couple of thoughts..

Re: Sirius Satelitte Radio

Well I solved my problem, mostly, and spent more money than I intended.
I got the Stiletto Executive Dock and speaker system. It comes with AC in, AUX in ( so I can use it with the iPod ), an indoor / outdoor antennae ( so I won't have to move the vehicle antennae ), wall-mount and remote control so I don't have to climb out of bed when the Old Bag tells me turn the damn thing off.

Has two 10 Watt speakers and doesn't sound half bad. Mostly, it is compact and I won't have wires running all over the place.

Re: Sirius Satelitte Radio

Latest I've read on Sirius is that satellite radio is the Beta tape player of the near future ( as in a matter of weeks ). Which leaves me with a bunch of useless hardware and a year to go on my subscription.

I can take consolation in that I can de-clutter my vehicle of wires and cables and that since the speaker system I bought has an AUX. in I can use it with my iPod.

I'm hoping that working through bankruptcy, Sirius can re-focus and dump the millions in contracts with Howard Stern and Martha Stewart and concentrate on broadcasting world radio such as BBC, CBC, NPR and the like and still carry low-cost music channels.

Their primary market was new vehicles and sales are down 37 per cent. But, I think they missed the boat, and RV's ( although I'm sure sales would be down here too ).

At home, in an urban setting, I have no use for satellite radio. I have too many options. But, out in the boondocks, that's my only source of news and current affairs.

I should have returned the gift, but I was already returning the electric outboard motor. Just another chapter in the life of the guy who couldn't shoot straight.
