I agree, wheel lock is the most secure.

The Proven Industries was supposed to also secure the chains but I wasn't able to make them fit.

Ultimately if someone really wants to steal a trailer there is no sure way to prevent it. Its just a matter of how much effort they want to put in.

Thanks Chemando for all the good info.

I just spoke with the gentleman who runs this company, and had a nice chat

I learned that:

the puck locks are flat key, but 6 pin, and a higher pin tension, so harder to pick than a lesser lock.

these locks do not go on sale... only when a new model is first introduced, for a short period of time.

shipping to Los Angeles would be $15

the 2516-A is $225 USD plus shipping. (same as what their website says)

They generally have them in stock - especially this 2516-A

They are made in the USA.

Due to more clearance needed for the hitch, on the 2516-A.... the internal lower part of the 2516-A had to be lowered, so there isn't room for the chains to be secured inside the lock.... however this model has a way to secure the chains to the 2516-A with a padlock. (the user supplies the padlock)

He said some people use the chains to secure a bike or extra propane tank or whatever, then lock the chains to the 2516-A with a padlock.

Just a heads up if you are looking to purchase any products from this company I do have a discount code for you:

Visit their website at Proven Industries - Best Trailer Locks for details but the best site to buy them from is Best Trailer Locks - coupler lock, trailer lock, trailer hitch lock

No matter what site you buy them from when you use coupon code: Highway11 at checkout you will receive $15 off your order.

Question about the lock use and effectiveness

I was reading this thread with interest, as we are leaving in a few weeks to pick up our trailer from ETI. For those with the Brahma wheel lock, does it fit the 15 inch radial's on the new 2017, 19' model without further modifications?

Do you believe that the combo of the Brahma along with the hitch lock from Proven Industries is the best method to thwart would-be trailer thieves?

Does the Proven Industries hitch lock NOT cover the chains? How is this a problem (or not)?

Are there any other wheel locks or hitch locks that come close to the quality and effectiveness of either of these locks?
Or are there any better solutions?
