What kind of spares do you carry in your Escape? A list maybe helpful, here are some of mine:
fuses
license plate bulb
awning strap
butyl tape
coaxial connection
power cord
aa and aaa batteries
12v compressor and tire plugs
water hose

I've got one for you: a spare cellphone. For my current trip, still ongoing, I brought an old Motorola Razr flip-phone that is SIM card compatible with my smartphone. Sure enough, the smartphone died last week and I moved the SIM card to the Razr. So I have phone service (well, given the network) but don't have the apps. At least I have something.

I'm hoping that I'll be out of network most of the time, that way no interruptions….good idea though if you have to be in touch

We carry spare cellphones too, and a Tracphone we bought new for $5 at a grocery store. That way if an emergency arises and we have no AT&T signal, but Verizon does we can activate the Tracphone over the air. You can call 911 with an unactivated phone too. Tracphones use different carriers depending on zip, so find one that only has Verizon and AT&T so they can't pawn you off on Sprint-the other CDMA carrier. We also have spare batteries. If no signal but want your phone on for nite lite/clock, put on airplane mode to save battery.
Mike- If your Razr is an original Gen 1, I would get a new pre-paid that uses your carrier's SIM ($30 or less) as reception for that model was never the best. Razr V3xx a different story.

We carry the commom fuses, bulbs etc. I like to have a spare wheel bearing kit that has enough to do two hubs and grease etc. two water hoses, A long one and a short one. As for communication I carry my inreach two way satelite communicator for when out of cell service.

Never, ever.
I don't use it at home or the trailer. Leaves a gummy residue and falls apart with exposure to sun and rain.
I do carry a roll of gaffer tape. Costs four or five times as much, but it's easier to handle, since it doesn't stick to itself. It's easy to remove without doing damage or leaving residue. Which is why it is used in the movie industry, television and photo studios.
BTW, duct tape is actually a thin aluminum tape used to seal ducts. Duck tape is the stuff that is commonly called duct tape, but is not.

I only use duct tape for temporary repairs. Here's the interesting history: Duct tape - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ross-
It's a Razr V3. I have to re-think this whole cellphone issue when I get back home.

Good idea (seriously), although it doesn't need zero balance (just lots of remaining credit), and both Visa and MasterCard are more widely accepted than Amex and thus more likely to be useful.

Spare pink rubber washers for the 3/4 hose to shore water. Those things are always falling out of mine.
A cheap scissors jack. Mine has proven to be incredibly valuable.

Jim, great list, are you saying that you carry a SPARE compressor. As in you have two?
I would include extra set of car keys in the trailer and trailer keys in the car. Also I have always kept an extra pair of glasses in my glove box ever since I got pushed into a lake 20 miles from home when I was 17.

Ditto on the keys, I have had to go home and get the keys to the trailer one time while my Wife and and Daughter then very young waited at the camp site with our other family members , that was a late friday night. I have keys to the trailer and truck stashed in a very hidden place that I am sure no theif would look
