Speaking of spare tire covers
Anybody attached a bicycle rack to the spare tire? I need a place to carry my zero g chairs

Is your camper "bike rack ready" if yes get a cargo rack to put in the receiver hitch instead of a bike rack. If no you can get ones that clamp on the bumper and give you a receiver hitch...although be careful how much weight you put on it.....a couple of chairs shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think the spare holder is sturdy enough to carry anything more than the spare itself. I'd use a hitch rack or cargo tray for your chairs. I think I just saw a cargo tray at Costco.

Harbor Freight has them too. After having an all-steel one, I would definitely go aluminium if there is a next time. Although the flip-up feature of the all-steel one was very nice.

I had an aluminum cargo tray for my 5.0 single axle which I let go with it when I sold it. I put a box with blocks and sewer hose in it, along with my step. My 2007 had a step which went into a receiver under the entry. I bought the tray to try to reduce weight on my truck box knowing I was likely over payload weight when taking our daughter and two children camping with us.

That's the direction I wanted to go and in fact I already have a spare tire carrier but when mounted I don't have a lot of confidence in the spare tire vertical post.

I have a cargo tray that I converted for another purpose. I may wind up disassembling the other project and put the carrier to this use. Thanks

You will want some sort of cover for the chairs as the back of the trailer creates a vacuum which sucks dirt, dust and wet.
I have a steel cargo tray that weighs 78 lbs. according to the shipping weight. That's half the capacity of the receiver.

Thanks Glenn I'm going to have to check and see what the effects of weather and time have done to mine

Spare tire can only carry a sprcific weight. What you can do is buy a hitch to connect the rack to the tire cover.
