Sticking bath awning window...

I'm curious about the issue with the Hehr bathroom window sticking. I had the first one installed in the Escape 19' bath and was very pleased with it. It was a little hard to open as one corner would hold it but it did open and close completely. It was perfect in the bath as you could crack it for ventilation without giving up privacy and it let a lot of light and air inside. I was very happy with it and the larger one installed in the kitchen. These awning windows can be left open in the rain without any water intrusion.
Now Escape as a result of the sticking issue is installing a slider type window in the bath, I see 2 issues, one it can not be open while the bath is in use as there is no privacy and two, it will allow water from rain inside your trailer, albeit inside the shower.
Has anyone given this much thought, to me the slider becomes worthless, it may as well be fixed like the door window, light only but no ventilation. For the MaxxFan to operate efficiently in the rain it needs a source of air to exhaust so the trailer does not become stuffy, awning windows allow that source, sliders do not.
I recall several posts complaining of the sticky awning window, but sticky or not, I feel it is better than the alternative slider replacement, what are your thoughts on the subject? With 2 dozen new 21's being made and a lot more 19's, lets think this out and come up with a solution to the bath window. Perhaps a little sticky awning is better than the smooth slider.

Our bathroom window opens same as did yours. We have not noticed any issues with it sticking and are quite happy with it.

Our bath window sticks a bit. Guess it comes down to your tolerance level and the trade off. I agree and will live with a bit of sticking during opening rather than give up the privacy and venting gained with an awning type window.
For escape its the ability to deliver a functioning window with the least delay in production and problems after the fact. Sounds like the slider will solve their issues.......

Reace offered to send a replacement sliding window to solve the problem.
As mentioned previously, they have problems making such a small opening window. I don't know why they can't get them straight, but that is the best Hehr will do. I have just recently switched this window to a vertical slider rather than the crank open style. I can send you the newer version if you want to change it?
Reace
We opted to deal with the awning window. The window was bought for ventilation.
OK, ventilation when it is raining.

You gotta believe, and as indicated in Jubal's post, that Reace is doing it for all the right reasons. I thought the window was intended for light and to pass a hose through, no? For venting, there is one on the roof.

I do not have one, but might if doing it again, but for me it would be just to let some natural light in. Would not be too fussed though with a space that I use for just a couple minutes a day, if at all.

So that makes me wonder which one we am getting. Our trailer must have been in production close to when the change was made. I kind of hope we are getting the awning type because that is the window we leave open when gone because any rain that should come in is in the bathroom and does not get anything else wet. We had the slider in the Casita and it stuck half the time too. Once it stuck so hard I pulled the lift handle off trying to open it.

This is the only picture I have of the driver side and its hard to tell.

We have the sliding bathroom window in our new 5.0 and it works just grand. I usually open it after we've had showers to get some air in and it's quick and easy to close and reopen if you need to use the loo.

We've had some doozy rain storms on our first trip and I've not noticed a problem that I can't live with.

We didn't have the old window so I can't compare, but I'm happy with this one. The light alone is worth it!

When we picked up our 2008 5.0 this summer we had Escape add the awning window in the bath...works fine...no sticking.

KountryKamper it looks like you have the awning window...it looks just like ours.

With the awning window, did the whole thing open, or just the lower half, because his has a bar across the center.

Gotcha, thanks. You would think the window manufacturer could bother to make that work good. It shouldn't be that tough.

We have the awning window on our 19 as well. It does stick just before it comes to a close, approximately the last 1/8 of an inch won't close. I've just made it part of the routine to give it a little nudge to close it fully from the outside as I'm doing my walk around checks before we leave a site. We like the window a lot and are quite happy to put up with this little idiosyncrasy.

I found this picture of the inside of our bathroom. It looks like the center section is a little wider then FMLNM's and I don't know what the little things on the side are. It really don't matter I an just curious what we are getting.

I don't think they had finished installing the window..those look like the little arms that push the bottom half of the window open...but it doesn't look like the knob or the screen are on there yet....

Tom & Cheryl: you have the same window as we do. It's not an awning window, it's the slide up model. Those little arms hold the bottom half of the window up and it's just a quick release to close it. We have the awning window over the sink and it sticks, but like Glenn/Rosemary said, I just give it a nudge before we leave a site. They both work and give great light!
Our 5.0 was finished on August 29, to answer an earlier question.

Congratulations! We're testing the waterproofness of ours in Revelstoke at the moment :-) So far, so good .... and nice to have windows that can be opened in the rain!

Now if I could just get the nice German tourists in the rental Class C next door to stop turning our power off by mistake, all would be good! :-) At least we know the controller and fridge power display work.....
