Storage door catch

I guess it's as simply as drilling out the aluminum rivet and putting a new couple back in, am I missing any secret tip here? I'd like to get behind this to put a washer on the rivet but don't really want to peal back the covering insulation inside. Anything better or worse than the standard Camco?

Escape started just using VHB tape attachment and when mine came off, I just left it off.

You are right, just drill out the rivet using the same sized bit, being careful not to push the rivet or bit through the vinyl liner. Unless the holes are not fairly round still, I would not worry about a washer, this catch is not creating very much pull at all. I have done a bunch of rivets lately on the shell without washers, and being near 3/16" thick, I am not worried about pull out at all.
