String Me Along!!!
Hi: All... One of the strings of our wide rear window shade broke. Has anyone had to re string a shade? Anyone know where to get the string or where I should take "Escape Hatch II" to get it done? Alf

Google might be your friend. Found this:
but it's 12 minutes long so I didn't watch it.

If you can remove the blind, you can usually find a drapery store that can repair them.

I fixed one in our 19 not too long before we got rid of it. It took me longer to figure out how it worked, than to effect the repairs.

Shade stringing
Hey Alf. This just happened to me on Saturday! The left hand string of the back window shade was obviously rubbing on something and then broke. Please post your solution. I really don't want to have to take my trailer in if I don't have to.
(Other than the broken string, I love my trailer!)

I scanned through it. The video is for a day/night shade which is more complicated than the Escape shades but the procedure looked doable if somewhat tedious.
Thank You gbaglo

Thanks. I can't watch any video over 2 min. 30. seconds, and that includes Star Wars.

I restrung a Bali pleated shade recently and it was tedious. If I were you Alf I would contact the vendor. We had to get two of our shades replaced as they were deformed - they showed in our build pics.

Hi; gbaglo... Since we're on a public wifi I don't want to take the time to watch. The shade still works although not well and I should be at "The end of my rope" by the time I get home to watch. Any time I'm involved with hose, cord, string or rope there's a snarl... I'm sure I can tangle with it at home!!!
Hope we don't have to re winterize on the way north. Alf

Hi: Rossue... Just found the name United Shade... a Dicor Co. on the said shade. A restring kit is avail at Camping World... or by special order through an RV service dealer. Should have put on my reading glasses first. Alf

Thanks for all the tips! According to The Dicor Corp's United Shade video (at UnitedShade | The Dicor Corporation | Official Website under Resources for RV owners), I have night shades in my 5.0 (as opposed to the day/night shades). I'm going to try their RV DIY video "How to Restring RV Day/Night Pleated Shades" and the Pleated Shade Restring Kit (which only uses 3 tools: a flathead screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, and scissors) for $22.25 (or $16.89 + S&H on Amazon). After I fix my shade, I'll post about my experience.

For $20 that would be good to order and throw in a storage bin. I don't see it available anywhere in the beige cord like we have.

Hi: Greg A... They are avail. in Beige... but not as plentiful. At the moment I'm steeping two white ones in some strong black tea. Thanks to emers382 they are not so white any more.
Another day of on and off rain so a good time for an inside job!!! Alf

The repair kits are available in beige cord - if this is the right one:
