After getting my fridge replaced at ETI in June I noticed a strong smell coming from the compartment under the bed and also from one of the overhead cabinets that I don't open often. At first I thought something had somehow crawled in under the bed and died there (still not sure about this-- haven't really checked) but the smell wasn't quite the same. I thought the smell might be from something ETI used when sealing up the new fridge. Now that I'm home I have all the interior doors open so the trailer can air out for a while.

I don't know if you have a new PVC shower curtain in there, but that is a pretty head-y experience!

When we ordered the Escape, outgassing was something I was concerned about. Our trailer was built in February 2014 and sat at ETI until June, when we picked it up. Tammy said that when the weather turned good they would open the windows on the trailers and let them vent. Nevertheless, the new smell was strong, and while it wasn't offensive I knew it wasn't particularly healthy. So we had the max fan on almost all the time. (it was way too cold in the Canadian Rockies to run the air conditioner, although that would have been a good idea). The furnace smell was quite unpleasant, but we ran the furnace when we needed it. I would particularly notice the aroma when I opened up cabinets or the storage under the bed.

The smell persisted through the summer of 2014, and when we opened up the trailer in May it was still there, albeit less strong. However after a couple of weeks I stopped noticing it. Maybe because we were using the air conditioner more -- I don't know, but I think it is pretty much gone.

There've been several good suggestions on this thread -- bottom line for me is that there would be no trailer that didn't out gas and ETI is more sensitive than most -- they don't use pressed particle board, for example. And I wanted a trailer.
