The garage door solution

After considering and discarding many ideas, I went with new carriage doors on the garage. It had a false header at 8 feet and an 8 foot door. Now it has carriage doors hung under 9 foot header. Done except for the trim and paint. (Picture with new driveway is the original door.)

This way I will be able to park inside on a regular basis. Not a cheap solution but they are very nice doors and it ended up being the most feasible solution for everyday use.

Nice! That's awesome you only had to replace your door and you could get the trailer to fit in your garage. Our trailer is parked uncovered and gets bird poop on it, so I'm jealous of your garage parking. Enjoy it!

I used to have a big pickup camper on a 1 ton Ford truck with a canoe on top of the camper. When I built my storage I figured I'd never be higher than most bridges on the Interstates, so I made the entry 14 feet tall........works well with an Escape 21

Well, it got a little expensive when it turned into carriage doors, but I think I'll be happy I did it.

WIth the original opening. Hardly visible that it got a foot taller.

We can't do those post and roof sheds- too much wind. But also the reason I didn't want to keep parking outside. We lucked out this past winter- after my friends moved and I had to bring it home, we had nothing over 25 mph.

It's in! tight fit at the doorway but now I know its footprint in there I'll move a few things and have access. When I pull out I'm going to mark a guide on the driveway to make getting in easier next time. Still have to finish the doors (outside is at least primed) and put door holders on them (used bricks under towels this time). But it works!
