I leave $100 in cash in the first drawer they see upon entering.
That’s enough to give them a score and feed their drug/alcohol habit.
Hopefully they will grab the easy money and leave.
At least that’s the plan.

for an alarm to work with a phone, either the trailer would need its own cellular modem and cellular data account, or your phone would have to be in wifi range of the trailer. neither is very practical, especially when many boondocking sites dont have much in the way of cellular service.

I don't lock mine... I use a small carabiner to keep the lock from popping open on the road. anyone with a screwdrvier could pop off that latch in 0-point-no seconds anyways, so a lock is just going to annoy me. I only carry stuff like spare hoses, a hammer, my sewer gloves, chocks, and ramps in there.

You need to consider whether the security device you apply will result in more damage to your trailer, if somebody breaks in, than simply leaving it unlocked.
I wouldn't put a NRA sticker, or an Apple sticker, or Sage Rods on my trailer or vehicle. Just an invitation to break in.

We have installed a removable jumper wire with crimped pin connectors in the power lead to the tongue jack. Without the jumper there is not enough wire left to reach the battery. We have also hidden an unused cell phone behind the dinette front wall panel connected to a 12V charger. The phone is on a data plan which only costs us when we activate find phone. My son tried it in his luggage on a flight to Germany. The bag was lost and we were able to find its exact location in the London Airport. The data used cost us 60 cents.

There are many levels of "security". Some keep "honest" people honest, some discourage the thief of opportunity and others create headaches for and might discourage professional thieves.
This one works well for me. It is heavy and quite robust.

I also like the progressive industries locks described earlier in this thread.

Now that is interesting. What type of data plan/service provider? I have an extra phone with no SIM card we use when we travel internationally (and buy a SIM card locally).
