Those pesky window shade brackets

Apologies if this has been discussed here before, but does anyone have a simple but attractive way to cover the lower brackets that hold the window shade cord ends? The ones at the head of the bed are a real nuisance when sitting up to read. We can sit so as to avoid them, but unplanned and sometime painful encounters still occur.

I've thought of a large piece of rope looped over the plastic cylinder and then wrapped with cord along the bracket, modifying a hockey puck to fit over the cylinder, and so on. Surely someone must have a better idea!

I have also had the odd poke in my back from the window shade anchors. Have not done anything about it yet, but have considered buying a pillow to use when sitting up in bed. Maybe something like these would work?

Good question Parker. They snag our clothing at the dinette seats too.
