Tom, are you crossing at Sumas?

I too went through customs with a sink, faucet AND upholstery fabric for my build. Told them it was for my new Escape trailer being built. They didn't bat an eye. Then when going to pickup, I had five large totes of stuff, told them again it was camping gear for my new Escape trailer. They didn't seem to care. Just asked about guns and food.

I can't be certain, but I think if you mention "Escape trailer and Chilliwack," most will know what you're talking about as they've heard it often enough!

Thanks, Greg. I'm glad the long driving days are over -- will be taking 7 months to get back to Cleveland.

Hi Tom, thanks!!!

A month+ will FLY and you'll soon be in your 17A!

Planning a few weeks on Camano Island at the state park. Would love to go to the Olympic Peninsula -- camped there about thirty years ago and loved it!!! -- but friends are waiting in San Francisco, so it all depends on how long I stay at Camano.

Good luck to you too. Looking forward to hearing reports of your 17A and your travels in January!

Recommend a trip around the Olympic Peninsula as a first try out trip.

Tom, its all your personal effects that are re-crossing with you back to AK. No commercial goods, no gifts. Should be no problem as long as you avoid all high targeted items (guns, ammo, drugs etc).

PS. If it looks like you're moving down permanently then you might want to have a couple of pieces of paper that show that you have attachments to Alaskan property Ie, property taxes. But that thats pretty extreme.

No Umbrella. I hate those eye poking things and they act like a kite in the wind. Get yourself a good cap with a wide brim.

I agree - was just joking because of the rain forecast. Not an umbrella person at all! Love Gortex but it's so expensive. I have an 20-year-old Gortex jacket but washed it too often and it lost it's power! But do have that good cap!!!

You are so right Karen. The first times I visited my daughter in Eugene, OR, I rarely saw an umbrella and unless it was a heavy rain, not even a cap or hat.
