I have the same jack and the same problem as Parker, but solved it a different and maybe easier way. I got the idea from a thread on this Forum, but now I can't find the thread. Anyway, I lubed the top gears thoroughly, easily done by removing the two bolts holding the cap on, but that did not help. This worked: I drilled a small hole about 2" down the vertical shaft from the cranking arm, and sprayed an entire can of lithium grease up, down and sideways into the shaft, trying to hit the screw unit inside. The grease should leak out the bottom. Then I ran the jack up and down a few times. Big relief, as I strained my back on our last trip wrestling with the thing. Then I just found a metal screw for the hole and put it in, taping around it with Gorrella tape to make sure no moisture gets in. Black Diamond engineers are not winning any prizes for neglecting to put a grease nipple on the shaft! By the way, Parker, we met you at Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge briefly, several years ago, and had a look at your 19, which we now have too. Arthur and Linda say "hello."
