Tree sap removal?
Any advise regarding the removal of tree sap drips from the body of my 21?

Just waxed my 5.0 this week and had sap to remove. Alcohol, rubbing not drinking, worked well. Of course a couple of beers kept me lubricated, it was quite hot.😂

Alcohol definitely works, but it evaporates too quickly. I used Turtle Wax brand bug & tar remover and found it worked much better, probably because it stayed liquid and didn’t evaporate.

What kind of tree sap? I have trouble with Oak tree "sap" Very tough to remove.

Thanks I've used the turtle wax stuff before on cars wasen't sure if was safe for fiberglass. I'm parked near Douglas fir trees.

We used rubbing alcohol last year and will again this year after a summer deep in the ADK's.

I am wondering the best way to remove tree sap from the awning material. Since I rolled it up it is on the top and the underside. I probably have it on the fiberglass on top too but haven'y looked yet, but what about the awning material?

we use peanut oil on horses with sap on them oil usually works

Healthy trees, particularly oaks, don’t typically drop sap. Aphids or other honeydew secreting insects are probably feeding on the leaves and are the source of your “sap” problem. Their sticky deposits are a nuisance to remove but it’s just aphid urine.

The closest thing I have around when working on my car is gas line antifreeze (alcohol). It works great..

Kerosene , diesel fuel even gasoline .But only clean the spot where the sap is and then wash and re wax,

We camp under many sap dripping trees on Vancouver Island and a neighbor in a northern light camper put me onto "Goof Off by guardsman" for sap removal; purchased at Canadian Tire. I use this on the rv, solar panel, screen tent, and privacy tent...a little goes a long way. This is the only thing I found that works and works GREAT!! Ian

Goof Off is a great product which will clean up latex paint, but is pretty strong stuff. Test cautiously on surfaces before use. I have had a lot of good results with mineral spirits. Loren
