Uncovered storage in the desert question

We're doing the walk-thru of our new home here in Tucson, AZ later today, and closing next week. Naturally, we're looking at storage options for the 5.0TA we'll be picking up next Monday and would appreciate any thoughtful comments and opions on the effect a blazing sun will have on fiberglass. As always, many thanks in advance for any information you can share!

It's not the f.g. I'd worry about. It's the plastic items such as vent lids etc. that discolor and turn brittle from the high UV. Some sort of sun protection is probably a good idea for the long term.

Ron, definitely has good advice.
I wax twice a year with Meguiars Premium Marine wax and use 303 Protectant on all the plastic pieces and exposed awning. So far, two years uncovered storage and still looks new. Due to the fine grit and occasional high winds here in AZ, covers aren't a good idea as they'll cause swirls in the gel coat that you won't be able to buff out.
Once you experience your first Haboob, Rich, it will make more sense.

Sounds good to me. Covered 25 ft storage is $125/mo vs, $50 uncovered. I've got wax and 303.

My brother lives in Tucson I'm planning on spending lots of time there that's one of the reasons Im buying the 5.0 TA a little more space for longer trips when I retire.

You'll have to tell us more when you come over to visit our new rig once it's back in Tumwater, Kate.
