Under mattress Hypervent / Aire-Flow

They give off some heat and dry the air inside the Escape...

We had success with winter storage (no power available) by going to the Farm Store (Fleet Farm, Farm and Fleet etc.) and buying one of their moisture absorbing dehumidifiers. They come in all sizes, including a sizable bucket. The desiccant medium in the container attracts and holds significant moisture. One or two of these in a small trailer generally is sufficient for a variety of conditions.

I had a serious condensation problem around the perimeter ofthe mattressin my. 17b when I was coming back from picking it up from chilliwack and the temperature was in the single digits f.
I put five layers of reflectix bubble insulation between the mattress and the outside wall and two layers under the mattress . this pretty much eliminated the condensation / mold problem.

You want to have a vapor barrier between the inside warm air and where it gets cold enough for the air to get cold enough to reach dew point.

Can someone save me some measuring work? I would like to install the Hyper stuff under my mattress and dinnette How much do I need? I have the 2019, 21.

We bought 18 feet. It goes under the mattress, U shaped dinette benches and I had about 18 inches left over which I cut in half and put behind the dinette back bench which has plywood backing.

I just check, 4'x16' from Mattress Insider, $160.... I also plan on installing reflectix first and then the hypermesh.

Actually, when I bought mine I ordered enough for the E19 with the queen bed. Looking at the bed size in the E21 54"x80" one may need maybe 10 feet. One piece 48" wide and 6.5' feet would cover 90% of the bottom. Then another 3' x48" , cut into thirds 12"x48" strips, for the perimeter. So really only 10' feet would be adequate for the E21.

If you are talking about hypervent, I think it comes 39 inches wide we put 2 pieces cross wise under the mattress. The rest is used under the dinette cushions which are about 2 feet deep plus the section under the middle of he back bench. We use pool noodles around the mattress to keep it away from the outside walls. We also put larger pool noodles behind the dinette backs to give them some slant.

Could be, I was just eyeballing the roll without measuring it, when your are height challenged you always round up...... I'll get the exact today when installing and update the numbers....

Installed mine today, took me about 2 hours. Yes, mine was 40" wide and I have about 4' left over. First I covered the area with reflectix, that is 48" wide so I left the bath wall area uncovered. I then cut the hyper mesh, found using a hunting knife and or a razor blade cutter works as well as scissors. There is a cloth backing and it overlaps at the edges which makes joining 2 pieces easy. Cut 2 pieces for the sides, will do the same for the head of the bed when making the bed with winter bedding.

Just for general information, the equivalent of pool noodles is available in diameters from 1/4" - 2" called backer rod. Usually sold by the foot on a spool in the smaller sizes, and as individual pieces in the larger diameters. The stuff can be very useful as filler material.

Hey Jim,
Good job, looks nice. My only question would be on the Reflectix on the base. Reflectix can be noisy if rolling around on it, kind of a crinkling sound. Does this happen when turning over on the bed, etc. or does the hypervent/mattress layer keep that from happening?

When installing the hyper mesh on top the reflectix I did not notice any popping or crinkling, of course I have 70 year old ears also..................

For those who use the electric doodads, like the Davis Air-Dryr: maybe this is a silly question, but what do you use for your power? Do you leave your trailers plugged in with the main power plug all winter, or do you have a way of running an extension cord into the trailer? I'm guessing you use covers, so you're not using solar power.

We don't have ours yet, so no winterizing this year, but I'm a planner. Spending lots of time combing the threads to make sure I've got my ducks in a row.
