2017's Friction hinge from the door maker not escape. They come from the door manuf with this was my impresion.. Any door slam hits the bellyband rubber. I think the contact point was the black door handle to bellyband rubber. Pretty stiff hinge so no door Slams yet here. I get a lot of storms and camp in the windy desert so it is an added safety benefit for me if the family does not keep a hold of the door in that type of weather. I,ve had rv doors go flinging out of my fingertips in the past.

It's my understanding that ETI purchases the pre-fabricated door/jam units from a 3rd party supplier, and ETI simply installs the pre-fab unit. If so, then the striker problem was a quality control issue originating with the 3rd party supplier. Though ETI didn't create the problem, it would have been nice if they would have detected it in their final QC efforts and corrected it before it left Chilliwack. Glad you solved the mystery and that the solution required only a few seconds with a screwdriver. Happy camping!

Fine on a tablet and desktop here. My hinges are not squeaky by the way if you get it to play sometime.

So, I'm not quite understanding the hinge situation. My door does swing open and hits the dinette window. Is it a matter of contacting the manufacturer of the door and obtaining a replacement hinge?

We tried the door several times today and the issue with having to use a lot of force to open the door is no more. We were already pressing on the door when we pulled but that was not helping. I had to work my hand in and pull hard, I'd feel a pop and the handle would fly open. I was afraid the amount of force I was using was going to damage it since I suspect it is either pot metal or aluminum.

Our striker was installed wrong!! A quick application of the screwdriver and now hopefully tomorrow we have an easy to open door when we stop.
Why neither I or the camperworld guy noticed that I do not know. I guess the door hinges moving took all of our attention.

Could you post a photo of the wide and narrow side of the striker? I'd like to be able to check my trailer when I pick it up... Thanks

Yeah, I am confused with term striker, but maybe if I looked I would figure it out.

In case some supplier information is helpful, Escape currently appears to be using Lippert RV Entry Doors; the Installation Manual may be usefully descriptive.

No worries, I just needed to be clear is all. In doing residential construction, I have certainly heard my share of unknown to me terms from customers.

Yes I was, built substations for 15 years. Not familiar with the term birdie, except for something I could never achieve when I golfed.
