Water Heater On?
Okay guys here's my first stupid newbie question. (By the way I'm having a great time settling in my new 5.0 TA Wild Thing!) The question is I'm on shore power can I leave the water heater on all the time or should I only turn it on when I need hot water? Seems like I should be able to leave it on all the time on shore power but for some reason it's niggling me...

If you have the 2 way frig option (propane and electric), and on shore power ,you can leave it on electric all the time (small black switch in the water tank access area needs to be turned on).

Yes, you can leave the 120V switch on all the time. Just remember to turn it off if, and when, you drain the tank for winterizing.

The only other time (than winterizing) that I turn off the electric on my water heater is when I'm plugged into a 15/20 amp pedestal. For those times I use propane.

I leave mine on all the time except when I drain it to winterize. Not a problem at all. Just remember to switch it off prior to draining.

We turn our water heater on in the morning for an hour and in the evening for an hour. Unless it is cold weather, that is all we need to have hot water. Some of us can hear it and do not want it on for sleeping. We also make certain that it, and the water at outside faucet or pump, are turned off when leaving the campground.
Hope you are enjoying your new trailer!!

Everyone comments are so helpful, Thank you! I'm comfortably settled in for the night at Lake Pleasant Campground in Bothell, WA. Visited my son who's working for UnCruise and was just here for a couple of weeks. What fortunate timing! He only gets 4 hours a week of shore leave and I was able to be here and meet up for lunch. Trailer Life Rocks!!

Another time you would want to turn the hot water heater off is if you are boondocking and are running a generator to run AC. I think I would have it off anytime I was off grid. Wouldn't matter unless you fired up the generator.
