Water in my trailer in lower cupboards.

I stared at my taped spots and thought, IF I drill them is there a clever way to let the water out while keeping road splash and bugs from getting in?

Anyone drill them and come up with a screen? I was thinking of tapping a 90 into the hole and pointing it aft, then add a small screen (which might plug up easily from any debris from in the cavity washing down)

As to the source of the water, two possibilities - one that I discovered was from my 5 cu ft refrigerator. It does not have a drain hose for the fin drip tray - it is sealed. I returned from a trip, shut down the refrigerator & forgot to empty the tray after everything defrosted. Full, the tray holds about an inch of water, and since my fins were pretty frosted, it probably was close to full.

Hooked up the trailer & drove to get it serviced, and found water in most of the lower cabinets, and a near empty drip tray.

I've also had water enter around the edges of the trailer door during driving rain blowing against the passenger side.

The drain ports in the floor of each of the outside-accessible "basement" storage compartments of my motorhome have short bits of soft plastic tubing on them. The tubing is flattened, presumably so it will act like a one-way valve, opening to allow water out but collapsing to keep road splash out. I guess they work, but some have fallen off and those compartments don't get wet so it's hard to tell.

I would not worry about anything entering the trailer thru the drain holes, never had any issue with any of my Escapes nor has any forum member reported any issues.

So your vote would be drill them out and leave the hole opened?

I was thinking of wasps, bees etc.

Just use something that won't rust.
