water pump

Just getting ready for a trip, filled up the water tank and now the pump won't stop running. I purged out the sink, outdoor shower, bathroom sink and toilet so pretty sure no air in the lines. Any suggestions? In the meantime will just turn it off when not using.

I had the same problem earlier this year. Pump ran, but nothing's pumped. I'm out of warranty, so just replaced it with the spare I carry. Then bought another spare.I think it's the pressure switch that opens the valve. They sell a rebuild kit, but it costs almost as much as a new pump.

Thanks for the reply. My pump is pumping water OK but when I turn off the faucets it keeps running.

Perhaps your switch is stuck in the open position, whereas mine was in the closed position.

Don't know if this will help but here is one troubleshooting instruction (starting at Post #7):

thanks for the suggestion, but my pump doesn't have those adjusting screws. I will call Escape today.

You can take an allen screw and back out of the pressure adjustment till it turns off. But I guess you dont have a shureflo if you dont have the screws

Hugh: Is the pump the Shurflo 4008? Had it been operating ok prior? It would be strange for the shut-off and bypass to go out of adjustment and overlap, but you can read about it on the top of page 2. My bet would be on a bad/stuck pressure switch. Also check the strainer for debris for good measure, but this wouldn't cause the pump to keep running.

water pump

My pump is an Artis PDS3B-230-1260E (picture attached). I screwed the set screw at the left of the picture surrounded by three screws all the way in. Then I ran the pump and unscrewed the set screw surrounded by 4 screws at right of picture out until the pump stopped running. Seems to work fine now.
