What are the dimensions of the 5.0 loft steps?

Hello 5.0 owners,

What are the dimensions of the 5.0 Step storage leading up to the loft? Specifically the H x W x L of the interior space of the middle step. I could be patient and wait until we pick up our new trailer next week, but I'm already thinking about where things will go since the spaces on the 5.0 are so different from our current 19'.

I'm hoping my portable solar suitcase panel will fit in the middle step. It is 18 1/2 " W X 24 1/2" H x 5" deep. Thanks!

Anyone considering conversion of that space would probably benefit from this description by Chris Roberts of his excellent conversion:

This might be the most extensive previous discussion:

I have an Overland Solar 3 panel 90W system. I bought it a couple of years ago and it has been completely trouble free. I just checked and they don't seem to have that particular unit any more. It was similar to the 120 W system on the website that is sold out.

The opening of the middle step is 36”x8” and from the floor to the top of the middle step is 18 1/2” high. So it’s not deep enough for your 24 1/2 “ suitcase. The top step does not hinge open. However, I removed the top step and added a hinge and replaced the carpet on all three steps. The opening of my top step is now 41”x 71/2” and 29 1/2.” from the floor to the top of the top step. If you make this modification your suitcase will fit! I have a picture of what I did but can’t figure out how to post it. I can e- mail it! Mark

Thanks Mark, Brian posted some links to others that modified the top step a few posts down. I am going to do that mod once I have time. I appreciate the dimensions. I may be able to fit the solar panel in on its side, barely. Will have to see when I get my new 5.0 home Friday. Can't wait!!
