I like all the non-wimpy reactions to rainy weather in this thread. Somebody really wise once said, "There's no such thing as bad weather, only poor clothing choices."

When we got a day of heavy rain at Wells Gray Park two weeks ago, we and our campground neighbours didn't mind at all because it broke the drought BC has been having and soaked the fire-prone woods really well.

I agree with the folks who posted about enjoying the coziness of an FG trailer during a downpour. Just bring indoor stuff to do and good rain gear, and rain will enhance the trip.

Have to confess, I'm a bit of a pluviophile. The wife is kind of the opposite, but it works out.

We camped at the beach once with the horses it poured the whole time. I was sleeping in the horse trailer so dry and warm but no place to hang. We unhitched and drove to an Irish bar spent most of the weekend there great live Irish band. The horses had rain sheets and lots of hay.

In the PNW, if I went home every time I got rained on, wouldn't get much campin' in. I use my awning, or a screen room or if it's really cold, stay inside until it passes.

Hi: rbryan4... Wow... The more I know... The more I know... I don't know.
It hasn't rained here in a few weeks. That's because I haven't washed the trailer!!! Alf

You must be happy all the time, Mike.
As I recall, you described traveling and having the rain follow you everywhere. We in SoCal were so hoping that you would visit our towns.

I did visit northeastern CA, and it did rain, or at least sprinkled a bit. In fact, the area didn't look that dry and I was told later by a resident that they had had enough rain earlier in the year. Everything looked green. And yet 30 miles north of me was a raging wildfire that killed a firefighter. I don't quite get it.

After traveling with four or five kids and needing to make sure they were amused, now we're alone and rain just is not an issue If it's not too heavy we hike anyway, if it's a constant downpour we read and we eat.The reason we got a trailer in the first place way back when was because tent camping with kids in the rain was not enjoyable for us.

After this previous summer I would change the question to ask, "What do you do when it's too hot to move and you're not camping at the beach?"
