One of our campfire songs, along with a few other Prine tunes.

It rained on and off all day in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois -- we took a walk to the visitor center (where the parking lot was under four feet of water) dodged raindrops as we hiked to the top of the Starved Rock, went out to lunch at the lodge, and I spent the rest of the day taking my towels on and off the line as the squalls came and went. Slowed me down considerably. That night there were three tornadoes very nearby.

I think it might be different for some being on a short trip and it rains vs. being on a longer trip when we know we can just move to the next campsite and different weather. In the case of Starved Rock we moved to Iowa where we had torrential rains all night and all day. We did laundry. It rained on and off in Sioux Falls. When we finally got to the South Dakota Badlands it had stopped raining, but they'd received a crazy amount of rain and the mosquitoes were horriffic and the heat intense. So we turned on the maxi fan during the heat of the day, took an ice cold shower and sweated.

Like Rosanne Rosanna Danna says, "It's always something."

RE: "...I have set up many, many tents in the pouring rain. Not something I like to do, but it can be done."

Will never forget that night in a pup tent in Nova Scotia when it rained so hard we awoke, turned a flashlight on, and watched fast moving waters streaming past our (blesséd) rubber air mattresses. That may have been the day I first ever thought about switching to fiberglass.
