What kind of step will our Escape have?

Today we visited an Escape built in 2007, and it had a plug-in type step that is removable and needs to be stored somewhere while the camper is on the road. Is this still the type of step being used on new Escapes? We are hoping instead for a built-in step that retracts under the camper when not in use.

To clarify. It does retract.

Re: What kind of step will our Escape have?

We took a drive out to Escape trailers today to go over the options for our build.
While there, I took some pictures of the step which should give you a good idea of how they look.
They seemed to open and close easily. Hope this helps ...[img][/img]

Hi LBaranyai,

Those step pictures are so helpful! It's so nice of you to take them and do the posting! We really appreciate it!

Someday in 2012 we'll have our 19 and I plan to take pictures to post for the benefit of others. In the meantime, we are enjoying the delayed gratification aspect of ordering a 19 sight unseen, including the "aha!" moments we get from pictures such as yours.

Re: What kind of step will our Escape have?

Our Escape is getting older by the year!! Oh well..... that said, one of the things we still love is our plug in step. Don't knock it until you try it! We prefer it because it is wider and very sturdy. Once it's plugged in it won't move. If we ever bought another new escape we would want another plug in step.
