Wheel nut size needed
Hi guys,
Tuesday our Escape will arrive in the harbour of Harlingen. It was shipped inside a high cube shipping container and in order to fit in tha t container it is shipped with the tires removed from the rims. It is, so to say, shipped barefooted.
No problem, but........ i need to remove the rims of the trailer and since this is a Canadian trailer i'm not sure what the exact size of the wheel nuts is.
Can anybody do us a big favour and tell us what the size of the wheel nuts of the Escape 5.0 Single Axle is? Either in millimeters or in inches.
Your help will be much appriciated!
Have fun!
Severinus and Yvonne

I just read through all 34 posts in the referenced thread and didn't see the socket size mentioned. 3/4? 13/16? 19mm? I think that is what the OP is asking.

The nut on my 17B with 15" wheels takes a 21mm socket ( or 13/16 ).

BTW, 13/16 and 21mm are not quite the same size, but I checked a couple days ago and my 21mm socket fits just fine.

Was your trailer Container unloaded in Lisbon?? I'm still watching the container ship and it is in the Mediterranean... Is it then going by truck or rail? You must be excited!

Perhaps not so surprising... my Toyota Sienna van has M12 wheel studs and the nuts need a 21 mm socket. The studs on the Dexter axle will not be metric, but are probably 1/2" (12.7 mm) with a similar outside hex size of nut.

Hi Steve,
Ahh, you missed our post of the 4th of July.
It turned out the container was offloaded in Cartegna and transferred to another Vessel.
That vessel already moored in Rotterdam, as we speak the container has been transferred to a smaller barge and is on its way to Harlingen where we can unwrap the present on Tuesday.
The shppping company forgot to tell us of the vessel change we just found out on the 4th we i gave them a call thinking it would be thight to get the container from the Valencia to Rotterdam in the few remaining days.
Anyway, the voyage from Chilliwack to Harlingen is allmost done.
Have fun!

Hi Guys,
Just to let you know, the EXACT size of the wheel nuts on the Escape 5.0 (classic) is 13/16 inch but a 21mm socket will do the job.
Being a American Iron fan i do have a reasonable collection of "inch" sockets/wrenches etc. So we used a 13/16 socket to get it loose.
Thanks for you help in this one.
Have fun
Severinus and Yvonne
