Window shade spools

Having searched and found no answer, I pose the following question:

Has anyone come up with an effective and non-obtrusive (read "not ugly") way of padding or covering the plastic backstabber spools on the windows? Of course, a large pillow could be used, but that would fall under the definition of obtrusive.

Was just musing over the same this morning. ...Wondering if some sort of switch cover might work -like one which protects a switch from getting turned off. Will be great to hear from other's with success!

Well they are probably getting hard to find, but a plastic 35mm film container with a slot for the string (and to hold it in place) would work pretty well.

I'm considering trying foam pipe insulation, cut to size. However, I won't be able to get to the MEGGA trailer for a while. Once I do, I'll post pictures and my thoughts on the efficacy of the "fix".

I tried foam pipe insulation for a similar type solution (but to a different problem), and found that it worked ok at first, but does not hold up to movement and abrasion such as would occur when leaning against it. I don't think it is the correct solution here.

Large furniture glides may work; at least they're durable, and distribute the load of someone leaning back on them.
