Windows

We have a question about the rearmost window on the 19 foot Escape: Does it open? and if not, why not?

Thanks,

Harris

It is fixed, the rear facing one, each side window opens, with the street side being an emergency hatch.

There are plenty of opening windows in the trailer. Just using the ones on the four side corners provides plenty of ventilation. In fact, I don't think I have even had them all open at once, usually just two, and a bit of fan added in.

Non-operating windows seal better too, which for me is quite important. One of the issues with sliding windows is that they are the most prone to air leakage, especially in wind condition. Picture being the best, followed by awning and casement.

Rear of the trailer tends to collect water, dirt and mud when towing during wet weather. Not having the rear window capable of opening would help to keep that wetness and dirt on the outside of the trailer and would not interfere with the sliding/opening mechanism on the windows.

You've heard of "drafting" in auto racing? Where a following vehicle sits right behind the lead vehicle and is sucked along by it.
That's what dirt and rain do at the rear of the trailer.
