So Much for Winterizing
We had our trip delayed while we went to an RV place to have the cracked water valve in the toilet replaced for over $100. The toilet was leaking big time and there was no way to take on water. We had done everything on the winterizing list. We were told by the RV shop that the things on the list would not have prevented this. Water was sitting in the bottom of the valve and cracked it apparently. They said that the only way to prevent that is to run anti-freeze through the lines (bypassing the hot water tank by moving the lever to "off" that is under the bed in the 19'). We also bought the kit with tubing to do that next time. I recall someone reporting on this and I guess I thought it was for one list and we had used the other or it would not happen to us if we just followed the list. So much for that.
When we then went on the road and had other things stop working such as the water pump, we were not delaying any further short of a full break-down. We had too many things to see and places to go. Made sure we had city water the rest of the trip. Still have to figure out the pump.
