I have used that and thermostat as well as telephone wires, as long as it's for led light with low amps. Even door bell wire which is marked red and white and makes it easy to keep pos/neg.

I'm soon to do my first electrical modifications to my 19' and was wondering (with regards to 12V lighting) if 18 gauge speaker wire would be a good choice? Since you've run lots of LEDs, I thought I'd ask you. Thanks!
