yes our counter top is black. It's mineral jet radiance. I think the captain light is useful but you may not need them all. I think it's good for future if you plan to connect other low power appliances and the wiring would be done. btw there is no light directly above the rear dinette, and no light underneath the rear overhang cabinet. I found myself wanting a light there so it's more focus on the table.

As for umbra hook, since we have 4 people using the trailer and the front is almost permanently set up as bunk, and the fact that we don't have a full sized closet, the only places available for us are the fridge cabinet, and the outside of the bath compartment. I have 3m command hooks at those spots right now.

Hello Aloaoka, I am building a 17B for Dec 2016. Thanks for posting pics. Is counter top black formica? What is your opinion of 4 captains lights, useful or overkill? Any places you would feel good about permanent Umbra Hooks? Thank you very much
