I thru-hiked the AT in '98 with my daughter who was 19 at the time. I have many memories of the trail, the people I met and think of my experience often. There is still a strong pull for long distance backpacking but my 68-year-old body just does not cooperate. My trail name is Farther and was given to me by my daughter for my habit, at the start of the trail, of overshooting the night's shelter, sometimes by miles and end up hiking "farther" than I had intended for the day.

I like your username. Is there a story behind it? Is it your trail name?
