Batteries Low, Converter Confused?

Took our new 19' out on its maiden voyage and may have fried the batteries? They were OK until return from trip. Left the fridge and the DC switch on, figuring the vehicle would continually charge...

I pull an Escape 19 with a Toyota Tacoma, 4.0L engine. It's not a full-sized truck but it's medium-hefty and does OK. I also know a person who tows one with a similar mid-sized truck, a Nissan...

Medora, these are not "minor complaints". You just bought your Escape and these things should work. No need to apologize for two major frustrations fresh from the factory.

Thanks Santacruzer.
I note that on Calmark's website (at least the one I saw) they said they make covers for Casitas and Scamps, but not Escapes. Is their website just outdated?
Anyway, that's...

You may well be right Baglo. I don't have my 19' yet, so I'm just theorizing possibilities, getting advice from experienced people like you. I sure ain't gonna run out and buy a macerator system...

I guess I'll learn. Hooking up the whole trailer and moving it, then taking it back to the CG, re-leveling, etc. seems like more of a task to me than driving a tank in the back up my pickup to a dump...

Jim, Are you sure the macerator pumps won't work without water? Most of them are DC powered. I wouldn't want a "sewer solution" type because that relies on water power from a hose, and a real...

I read in another thread that the front storage box has only a 100-lb capacity? Given that the two 6v batteries take up the bulk of that, it wouldn't leave much weight for anything else. Is that true...

Re: More on Batteries

You're probably right Baglo, I didn't know a 12v battery weighed 80 lbs. Given that and other concerns, it's probably not a good idea... (hmm, maybe a 6-v?)
Reason: I might want to run the 12v tank...
