But I've been talked out of towing with the Prius - it was such a nice thought, though.

Thanks Brian - I was thrilled to see that someone was using a Prius to tow a 19' Escape. If I could rig my existing car to tow the 15' Escape, I'd be closer to owning one. Probably not a good idea....

I've looked at the ratings for the Jetta in Europe - same car - and it has a tow rating for 1400 kilos. I think it's not rated in the US for legal reasons (CYA).

Maybe I'm being overcautious - but I'm looking at a Jetta Sportswagen TDI, which isn't even rated for towing (in the US). Figured Can-Am could do some work to make the tow safer.

Thanks Canadark - I checked - since the earliest would be August, I believe a 2015 pick up would be reasonable. I still have to sell a house, figure out what tow vehicle I'd need, and get it rigged....
