Warranty work?

I'm curious where warranty work on the Escape trailers can be performed?
Especially if you don't live or travel with the Escape in tow anywhere near the factory?

Re: Anyone ever order a "very" custom Escape?

The rating is there, but the interior space isn't.
I've had my oldest in his car seat in it once, he has very little leg room. Unfortunately not a great setup to stick him into when we would be...

Re: Anyone ever order a "very" custom Escape?

I've been looking on kijiji and for a 1/2 ton Ford or Dodge with around 125,000km they seem to run low-mid teens. (Much more than that on the clock and I become less confident about its reliability.)...

Re: Anyone ever order a "very" custom Escape?

I appreciate all suggestions provided in the vein of goodwill! :)
The whole situation is as follows - my wife refuses to camp with our boys in a tent, not so much the 4yo, but the little guy that is...

Re: Anyone ever order a "very" custom Escape?

The permanent bed is too small for my wife and I to be comfortable - I toss a lot at night due to my disability, and my sleep apnea. (Trust me, it's a pretty awesome combination...)

Does the 17...

Re: Towing in 4 wheel drive?

That's no different than out here in AB - the first snowfall always provides much amusement for me as I count the "ditch cars" on the way to work. lol And it's usually the larger 4wd SUV's, the...

Re: Anyone ever order a "very" custom Escape?

I'll definitely send an email off to the company to get a solid answer, I was just curious if anyone else had tried to order a trailer like this before.

Re: Towing in 4 wheel drive?

I was in the tire industry with various companies for about 8 years, so I want to say a few things about the tire discussion.

That "M&S" rating on tires is garbage, they stamp it on everything,...

Anyone ever order a "very" custom Escape?

I still have my minivan with its measly 3350-3600lb tow rating and I was curious about the possibility of ordering a stripped down version of the 17' or 19' models.
Something like - no fridge, no...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

I think most minivans would be wide enough to fit a twin-sized inflatable mattress, maybe even a double. And most are now coming with the seats that can be folded down and stored in the floor which...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

They probably don't want to bother with the accompanying hassle that it would bring.
There's people out there that have said towing ANYTHING with a minivan isn't a good idea, whether it is properly...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

I actually saw that guy's web page from a link posted on RV.net.
I looked through his list and he had maybe 15 or so 19's listed. From my quick scan I'd say about 80% were over 3500lbs by at least...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

All good points Cathy!
And I'm definitely doing my research prior to buying any trailer. ;)

Just a point to make in terms of the weight inside the van affecting the tow rating.
All of the info...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

The issue of the "real world" numbers is definitely something that I'm ignorant of.
I'm thinking in my head of the additional equipment that isn't included in that ~ 2500lb figure - awning, spare...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

Definitely!
And that was another reason to start this thread - hopefully I could speak directly with people with the same vehicle/trailer setup that I am looking at.

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

I definitely agree that my family's safety is priority #1, that's pretty much why I started this thread. The question really is, if towing at or near 100% capacity of the van, am I actually creating...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

I have taken the weights of the occupants and our gear inside the van into account - but just estimates based on past cross-country trips. Granted with the trailer, the amount and weight of stuff...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

The van already has a tranny cooler. I guess I could get a larger unit, but I think the benefit of doing that would probably be minimal...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

Thanks for that link!
Some of the 19's did come under the 3500# mark, but most seemed to be just below 4000#.

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

Tongue weight was a bit difficult to fine, but from here:

(It's a VERY comprehensive list of specs for the van.)...

Re: Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

From here:
https://www.allpar.com/model/m/cargo-van.html

I found payload was listed at 1500 lbs for the models equipped with the smaller 3.3L engine.
Obviously I can safely say that my van would...

Towing a 19' with my Dodge minivan?

I hate for this to be one of my first posts, but I'm going to cross-post a somewhat long lead-up to a short question from a thread I started over on RV.net. I'm REALLY interested in the 19' for my...

Re: Towing the 19' with a Cherokee?

I used to work a couple blocks from the Princess on the West/Nort end near 170th.
I'm quite familiar with that store's layout from my multitude of visits. :D

I am actually going to have a...

Re: Towing the 19' with a Cherokee?

Thanks for the name of that company, and I'm in Edmonton, AB.
Sometimes the winters here feel almost as bad as the winters in Whitehorse. lol

Ideally for the Cherokee I'd want to replace the...
