Car cigarette lighters used to be fused at 15 Amps, but I don't think the modern wimpy 12V outlets are fused at that.



All the hard wired usb oulets I know of including the ones Escape sells...

FWIW. I fear the USB standard will go away sooner than you think. I got the 12V sockets and use 12V USB charger stuck in them. They come in different amperage and don't draw anything when unplugged....
