2019 Ford Expedition, Escape 21, and an Anderson WDH

on our recent 4 month long 9900 mile Mexican adventure. I pretty quickly decided we needed better antisway, and weight distribution, but I drove it carefully and we made it home without any towing incident.

I bought an Anderson WDH, the chain thing to use with our 2019 Expedition Limited that has the CDDS electronic shocks.. playing around with settings on the WDH, I'm measuring my rear at 21" unhitched, 19" hitched, and 20" with 50% WDH. I need to drive with this loaded and find the best adjustment.

I didn't measure noticeable dip or rise at my front bumper hitched vs unhitched, with or without the WDH, so I'm not sure its working right, but it brings the back up about an inch as currently set.

When we were setting up our Fastway E2 with our Rpod, the recommendation we got was to load the trailer and TV as close as possible to how we would normally tow. Then adjust the hitch to the where the entire rig is as level from to back measuring the TV at the wheel wells and the trailer at the frame. So I drove the loaded rig out to a big, level parking lot with all the tools I needed. Took a good couple of hours to dial it all in. After that, never had a single issue towing for 50k miles

Curious - what hitch were you using before?

me? a simple ball mount with 2" ball. it was fine on my F250, but on the Expedition with a heavy load in both the truck and trailer, its sway prone above 65 MPH, and its pitchy on bumps. next week we go on a short trip with a medium load, i'll see how the Andersen does then
