I believe with the max tow you get a 36 gal. Fuel tank. My 2018 did.

You can. Please note that the new PowerBoost hybrid engine comes with a 30.6 gallon engine. 36 gallon is not available with that engine, but its driving range is longer as well.

Hey that's great that you seem to have connected with the 'right person' at B&W and they're forthcoming with info! Good on you and good on them!

In Texas this week these trucks have an additional use:

Indeed - the 7.2kW generator can supply a fair bit of power in an emergency. Ford definitely hit a home run in this respect... In fact, it anticipated a lower sales percent for the hybrid engine than what it has seen. It is driven less by the mpg improvement and more by the generator option.

We have one with this feature on order with Ford.

Ford social media arm has been working overtime.

My F-150 is just over 5 years old, so will be hanging on to it for a while, but I really like this hybrid and who knows what the future brings.

This future is many years ahead. [emoji16]

Sure, but at least this is about a real feature which is actually useful, in contrast to the stupidity which is usually featured in pickup truck marketing.

Like unbreakable windows?
That too was a PR coup, for Tesla, hitting the airwaves around the world, because the window broke. Brilliant really.

Ford Launches VIN Specific Calculator! See your F-150's exact payload, GVWR, GCWR, and more!

I am not certain if it is just the 2021 model or earlier models as well.

https://fordfleetlive.com/#/VinCalculator

Quite useful. It shows room in the payload calculations, etc. The numbers in the attached picture refer to our truck. We have not picked it up yet.
  • Cargo Weight - I entered 100 lbs for rails + Andersen Ultimate hitch
  • I wasn't sure what the loaded weight of 5.0 will be. I put 5500 lbs.
With 1349 lbs as our payload - we have room for about 140 lbs for additional cargo in the box.

It worked for 2021 VINs I pulled from a local dealer new inventory website, but not the 2020 VINs I tried (nor, unsurprisingly, my 2005).

Still, a very useful tool for new shoppers since it provides VIN specific data that's almost never provided on dealer websites. Thanks for posting!

It won't "calculate" for me. I enter all the info, trailer weight, passenger, etc, but nothing displays in the remaining sections. Tried mobile, tried 3 different browsers. Seems like a scripting error.

Also worked for my 2019 F150. I included in Additional accessories the Andersen hitch, rails and installation brackets and empty TonneauMate storage box.

Just curious, when you enter your VIN does it populate the vehicle data fields in the section on the left?

Trying different VINs for a variety of years I'm now realizing it seems to be a bit of a hit-or-miss proposition - either it populates the vehicle data fields as soon as I enter a VIN or it doesn't. When it does populate the vehicle data fields the load calculation aspect works great for me.

Perhaps some gaps in the underlying VIN database (purely a guess)?

It sure is nifty when it works though!

No, it doesn't populate. But since the VIN was created no more than 2 weeks ago, and the truck won't start being built until April 18th, it's probably asking too much for it to already be in their database.

I realize this thread is a few months old but I just watched a video review comparing the F150 Powerboost to a Chevy 1500 3.0 diesel pulling a $6600 lb. camper.
It is interesting that the Ford disengages totally the electric boost when in tow-haul mode. And his real-world test showed under 8 mpg.

The fuel consumption numbers are interesting, but the comparison is otherwise devoid of useful information.

I wonder why was "boost mode" was used, and how did performance (other than fuel economy) compare? Perhaps without boost mode the F-150 would have still performed better than the Chevy, while consuming less fuel... or not, we'll never know. For that matter, what is "boost mode" - it's not mentioned in the F-150 owner's manual. It may have been Sport mode, which is according to the manual:
Quote:
For sporty driving with improved performance handling and response. This mode increases accelerator pedal response and provides a sportier steering feel. The powertrain system holds onto lower gears longer, helping your vehicle accelerate faster.
That's not the Tow/Haul mode, and is not appropriate for towing.

He says that "the hybrid system doesn’t use the top 2 gears when towing" but that makes no sense: the F-150 might not use those gears (of the ten available), but that's unrelated to the hybrid system. Since the EcoBoost engine can run at much higher speed than the Duramax 3.0, and should for best power, it's not surprising if the Ford uses lower gear selections.

For those who are not already aware of this interesting situation, Ford and GM are using the same 10-speed transmission design in these pickups. They each build their own transmissions, they each have three different versions (lighter and heavier duty), and importantly each has its own shift programming.
